About the Naturopathic Model of Healing

The Naturopathic Model is a system of healing defined by six unifying principals. At first glimpse, these principals may appear basic, yet when examined further, one will see that these principals form an indisputable foundation that applies to every aspect of health & vitality.

The Therapeutic Order identifies a natural order, step by step, to prioritize and addressing imbalances.

By honoring both the Principals of the Naturopathic Model and the Therapeutic Order, a pathway appears to support to the body in its inherent capacity to heal itself. Mankind has tried to grasp this inner process of self healing, but has not yet come to understand the boundless capacity of the body’s ability to heal itself. Fortunately, the Naturopathic Model does not require understanding this force, it only asks that we honor it.

  • Primum Non Nocere

    First, do no harm.

The Naturopathic model acknowledges that the expression of symptoms are the body’s life force attempting to rebalance itself, therefore interventions are best received when they complement this expression. The Naturopathic model supports avoiding harmful side effects when possible, as well as avoiding suppression.

  • Tolle Causam

    Identify and treat the cause.

Imbalances do not occur without a cause. The Naturopathic model seeks to discover and remove this cause, rather than eliminate or suppress symptoms, as symptoms are the body’s life force attempting to rebalance itself, and suppressing this force can create a more complex imbalance.

  • Vis Medicatrix Naturae

    Inherent ability to heal.

The core unifying principal of the Naturopathic Model is the body’s inherent self-organizing and healing process. Through identifying and removing obstacles and supporting the Vis, both internally and externally, this natural process can be restored. Homeopathy is one of the modalities used to support this inherent ability to heal.

  • Docere

    Doctor as teacher.

In Latin, “docere” means “to teach.” By way of teaching & partnering in health, clients are empowered to make changes to support their body, as well as to seek their inner guidance to align internally & externally in their environment.

The doctor also recognizes the therapeutic benefits of the practitioner-client relationship.

  • Tolle Totum

    Treat the whole person; Holism.

Tolle Tollum recognizes that each part is connected to its whole, in so many more ways than humans can imagine! Not only an interconnection physically, but also mentally, emotionally, magnetically, environmentally, genetically, ancestrally, socially, and spiritually. Harmonious functioning of all these factors contributes to the recovery and prevention of imbalances.

  • Preventare

    Prevention.

A pillar of the Naturopathic model is prevention of disease, as the route of disease prevention is shorter than the route of disease reversal. Proper education & training assists a practitioner to weigh multifactorial variables in order to educate and empower clients to make choices which support their body’s inherent ability to heal. One cannot be healthy in an unhealthy environment, therefore it is fundamental to provide a health-promoting environment.
